Good Neighbor Practices
Noise Considerations
- Keep noise to reasonable levels, especially between 11 PM and 7 AM
- Inform neighbors in advance of parties or events that may create noise
- Be mindful of music volume and outdoor activities
- Use considerate timing when using power tools or doing DIY work
Parking and Vehicles
- Park only in designated areas and your allocated spaces
- Avoid blocking driveways, pavements, or emergency access routes
- Keep vehicles roadworthy and avoid long-term storage on streets
- Drive slowly and carefully within the community, especially near play areas
Pets and Animals
- Keep dogs on leads in communal areas and clean up after them
- Ensure pets don't disturb neighbors with excessive noise
- Respect areas where pets are not permitted
- Register and microchip pets as required by law
Waste and Recycling
- Follow Perth & Kinross Council's waste collection schedule
- Use appropriate bins for general waste, recycling, and garden waste
- Don't leave bins out on non-collection days
- Report fly-tipping or dumped items to the council
Gardens and Outdoor Spaces
- Maintain your garden and front area in reasonable condition
- Trim hedges and trees that overhang into neighbor's properties or public areas
- Store items tidily and avoid creating eyesores
- Use environmentally friendly gardening practices where possible
Shared Spaces
Our community includes wonderful shared spaces including play parks, green areas, and walking paths. Please help us keep these spaces clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone:
- Supervise children appropriately in play areas
- Dispose of litter in bins provided
- Report damaged equipment or safety concerns promptly
- Respect posted rules and restrictions
- Be considerate of others using the spaces
Safety and Security
- Keep front and back doors locked when not at home
- Don't leave valuables visible in vehicles
- Report suspicious activity to Police Scotland (101 for non-emergencies, 999 for emergencies)
- Look out for vulnerable neighbors
- Keep communal doors closed and don't allow unknown persons into buildings
Disputes and Issues
If you have concerns about a neighbor's behavior or a community issue:
- Try speaking to the person directly in a friendly, respectful manner - they may not be aware of the issue
- If the issue persists, contact the Residents Group committee for advice
- For serious or ongoing problems, contact Perth & Kinross Council or Police Scotland as appropriate
- Keep records of dates, times, and details if the issue continues
Getting Involved
The Bertha Park Residents Group welcomes participation from all residents:
- Attend residents' meetings held bi-monthly
- Join the committee or volunteer for community activities
- Share ideas and feedback about the community
- Participate in community events and initiatives
- Help welcome new residents to the area
